You\u2019re invited to make a date for a conversation with a wise-ager<\/a>. That\u2019s me. I’m one of them.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

The following text describes \u00a0the past program.<\/p>\r\n

I reserve two Wednesday afternoons a month for conversations with anyone who wants to sign up to talk about whatever\u2019s on your mind. We usually meet in person, but I\u2019ve also had great conversations with people in other parts of the country by phone.<\/p>\r\n

“Wise-agers\u201d (accent on the first syllable) stand on at least seven decades of experience. They resemble both teenagers and wiseacres, with splashes of wisdom and wizardry. Wise-agers love to listen and talk about and puzzle over almost anything. You can check the \u201cabout me<\/a>\u201d page on this website to learn more about what I\u2019ve done with my seven plus decades.<\/p>\r\n

Connecting<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0We usually meet at Artist Trust, though sometimes we\u2019ve met by phone. We often walk down the street to a nearby coffee shop, or we simply walk\u00a0and talk. Occasionally, I\u2019ve met at someone\u2019s home on Capitol Hill, and I\u2019ve had conversations with groups of two or more and, a couple of times, with groups of students.<\/p>\r\n

A little background<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0The idea is based on memorable conversations I\u2019ve had in recent years with people who wanted advice or just wanted to talk. Artist Trust and I started this experiment a couple of years ago without knowing exactly where it would go. Since then I\u2019ve learned that it gives me\u00a0the opportunity both to meet extraordinary people I hadn\u2019t known before and also to spend time with old friends. The conversations seem to matter to each of us. It allows for the kind of focused time that\u00a0feels\u00a0luxurious but that we seldom give ourselves.\u00a0Each one takes its own course, and the form remains as open-ended as it started.<\/p>\r\n

So, come\u00a0use me as a sounding board, pick my brain, catch up on our lives, or try out new ideas.\u00a0These chats are\u00a0open to anyone. \u00a0Let\u2019s talk!<\/p>\r\n
